What are PRP injections?

PRP injections are a treatment option that Dr. Gonzalez-Hernandez offers at his practice for his patients who wish to explore nonsurgical options to treat their upper extremity condition. 

PRP is a specially prepared plasma that contains a high concentration of platelets. You may know that the platelets in your blood stop your cuts from bleeding, but these tiny cells also activate the growth factors that initiate the healing of your cut.

For your PRP injections, Dr. Gonzalez-Hernandez takes a sample of blood from your arm. He then spins some of the blood in a centrifuge that separates the platelets from the other components in your blood.
